Riga Retro tram will be back on May 1
The Retro tram will return to Riga streets for the summer season and will run on Saturdays and Sundays, as well as on festive days from May 1 till September 27. It is an electric tramcar dating back to 1909 – 1910 (see a photo by Ilmārs Znotiņš). The Retro tram will run from Ausekļa Street to Mežaparks via Radio circle and back.
Tickets are sold by the tram driver and are valid to the Retro tram’s terminal. The price of one ticket is EUR 2.00, for children under 7 years of age it is for free. If you show a Retro-tram ticket in the ticket office of Riga National Zoo, you will be granted a EUR 1.00 discount from the basic price of the Zoo ticket (discounts are not summed up).
From May 1 till November 1 the Retro tram is also available for rent (the rental price is EUR 85.00 per hour, including VAT). More information about the rent of the Retro tram is available here: https://www.rigassatiksme.lv/lv/pakalpojumi/retro-tramvaja-noma/.

The traffic of electric trams in Riga was first opened in 1901. The Retro tram is a tramcar model dating back to 1909 – 1910, which was fully restored in 1982, using old photos and technical drawings. The Retro tram has 18 seats and 10 places for standing.
